    Vic Loomis of East Lansing hit the jackpot when he was randomly selected as the winner of the Race to Vegas contest. A longtime MIS fan who has attended races at the Irish Hills track for 21 consecutive years and 23 years overall, Loomis will travel to Las Vegas to attend the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Awards Ceremony with Curtis on Dec. 2-4.

  • New scoreboard coming to MIS in 2011 New enhanced scoreboard coming for 2011 season
    A number of enhancements to Michigan International Speedway’s LED scoreboard begins this fall, continuing the track’s firm commitment to give fans the very best race experience each time they visit the Irish Hills for NASCAR Sprint Cup Series races. The scoreboard, the first of its kind in motorsports when it was installed in 2008, will receive a makeover. One of the most noticeable changes will be an increase in the overall height of the scoreboard from 108-feet tall to nearly 155-feet tall, a difference of 47 feet.

    For the second consecutive year, MIS and its non-profit arm, MIS Cares, will be collecting goods to benefit two local charities by hosting a lap around the racetrack from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 4, weather dependent. Guests may take one lap in their personal automobiles around the historic two-mile oval in exchange for a new, unwrapped toy or bag of food that will be donated to the U.S. Marines Toys for Tots and CCIS Food Pantry, in Brooklyn, Mich.
