June 2006 Campsite Winner Announced

The temperature was cool, a slight breeze blew, and rain fell from the sky during the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series 3M Performance 400 weekend at Michigan International Speedway on June 16-18. For MIS campers, the weather was reminiscent of autumn and there could have been no better time than October 31 itself to think about Halloween, which was the theme for the MIS campsite contest. With many entries in this year's contest, one stood out above all the rest as Bruce Davis of Wayne, Mich. was selected as the winner. For his creativity, Davis will receive his campsite for free during the June race weekend in 2007. Participants in the contest registered their sites, which were designed based on a theme selected by MIS. June's theme was "Halloween." "It's a lot of fun to see what different people do with their campsites," said MIS Director of Guest Services Tim Booth. "I personally enjoy each one, however, Bruce Davis and his group were very creative with their site. I encourage anyone who is camping here for the weekend to get involved with the contest. It's very competitive, but fun in the same sense." Anyone who has a campsite on the MIS grounds can register their site for the other two race weekends. July's theme will be "Patriotic," while "Pirates" will be the theme in August. You can register your site by filling out the form in the Inside Track publication that is distributed by MIS throughout each campground. Tickets are still available for all July 29-30 Firestone Indy 400 weekend activities at MIS presented by Domino's Pizza, with children 12 and under admitted free the whole weekend. In addition, tickets are still available for the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup GFS Marketplace 400 on Sunday, August 20. All tickets can be purchased now by visiting www.MISpeedway.com, or by calling the MIS ticket hotline at 1-800-354-1010.
