Bobby Morgan, MIS November Fan of the Month

Bobby Morgan of Shelbyville, Ind. has been named the November 2006 MIS Fan of the Month. Morgan will receive an MIS hospitality package for two people to a 2007 race at MIS, in addition to an MIS hat, a T-shirt and a soft-sided cooler.

Morgan is the fourth MIS Fan of the Month eligible for the 2007 MIS Fan of the Year. He will be eligible to win a trip for two to Homestead, Florida to witness NASCAR's Championship Weekend at Homestead-Miami Speedway in November 2007, along with the final race in the chase for the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup.

The MIS Fan of the Year prize also includes the use of the MIS showcar to display outside his/her home for a day (much like the Stanley Cup tour). The 2007 MIS Fan of the Year also receives two tickets to the MIS event of their choice for the next 10 years.

Please rate on a scale from 1 to 10 how big of an MIS fan you are? Why?

"Most definitely a 10++++! Just walking to the grandstands makes your hair stand on end. Seeing all the different types of race fans is great. The sights, sounds, people and atmosphere gets the adrenaline pumping. All of the new accommodations that have been done to the track to make it more fan-friendly are the best."

What is your most memorable race?

"I would have to say the August 2006 race, because I was able to see my favorite driver (Matt Kenseth) dominate the field and win!!! I also got Matt's autograph during the weekend. I couldn't say anything to him when it was my turn because I was so dumbfounded that I was actually 2-3 feet away from him."

Who is your favorite driver and why?

"My favorite driver is Matt Kenseth! He is not an outspoken driver, keeps to himself and has been a top driver in NASCAR for the past few years. He goes out and races hard every week to keep himself and his team at the top and has one of the best pit crews in NASCAR "The Killer Bees."
What is the greatest race weekend experience for you? "I think the greatest would be the very first race I attended. Seeing the track for the first time was mind blowing. It was a lot different than just watching on television. You get to take in all the sights and sounds. Hearing the cars fire their engines and feeling the rumble through your body for the first time¿I was hooked right then."

Who comes to the races with you?

"One of my racing buddies and co-worker, Frank, goes with me. We both have been long time NASCAR fans. He was able to get tickets to a race that first year and, well, as they say the rest was history. Thanks Frank. During last year's August race, Frank was unable to attend, so I brought another racing buddy, Scott, with me. It was his first time attending a NASCAR race. Seeing his eyes light up as we approached the track, I could tell there is another lifetime MIS visitor."

If you could spend one day with Matt Kenseth doing one activity, what would that be?

"I would spend the day with Matt talking and finding out what really goes into being a NASCAR driver. But, what do most, if not all, NASCAR fans want to do? That's right. We want to drive the cars. So move over Matt!"
When and why did you start enjoying NASCAR races? "I watched NASCAR with my dad when I was five-years-old or so. Like many people, I didn't understand why we watched cars drive in circles all day, but growing up watching Richard Petty and Dale Earnhardt, just to name a couple, was thrilling and exciting. I started to learn more about it. Remembering the joy it brought my dad is what really got me started. As I got older, I lost touch with racing for years until the 2001 season."
