Helping the communityShare
Race fans are very generous people, so it goes without saying that Michigan International Speedway’s charitable arm, MIS Cares, is looking to them for assistance this June in hopes of helping families and children in need.
During the June 11-13 Heluva Good! Sour Cream Dips 400 race weekend, MIS Cares will be hosting a Food and Toy Drive presented by Two Men and a Truck. The first 500 fans who bring a non-perishable food item or unwrapped toy to any of the Two Men and a Truck locations in the New Holland Fan Plaza will receive two tickets to Meijer Pole Day on Friday, August 13.
Items will be accepted during the entire June 11-13 weekend. Guests will receive an actual ticket when they drop off their item. All items donated will benefit the local Brooklyn CCIS Food Pantry and the Jackson Toys for Tots campaign. Two Men and a Truck, one of the track’s partners for the past two years, will deliver all donated items to both organizations following the race weekend.
With more than 100,000 fans expected to attend the race weekend in June, MIS Cares is hoping many of the fans visiting the Irish Hills will donate an item and make a significant impact to two local charities the speedway has a great deal of passion for.
“The Brooklyn CCIS Food Pantry and Jackson Toys for Tots are two really wonderful organizations and we’re hoping that our race fans can help out and donate food items or toys during the race weekend to benefit these two charities we take great pride in supporting,” MIS Director of Government and Community Affairs Alisha Cottrell said. “MIS Cares would also like to thank Two Men and a Truck for their support in this initiative. Great partners like them help make these events possible.”
The Brooklyn CCIS Food Pantry and Jackson Toys for Tots both benefited from MIS Cares during the 2009 Christmas holiday season. Early last December, MIS Cares hosted a Track Drive for Charity, which collected thousands of food items and toys for both organizations just in time for Christmas. MIS President Roger Curtis, track staff members and employees from Competition Tire personally delivered all the items. Due to its success, MIS Cares is planning another Track Drive for Charity in December 2010.
Nestled in the lush Irish Hills of Southeastern Michigan, Michigan International Speedway is the Great Escape, a venerable NASCAR national park where fans can get away and enjoy the very best in racing and camaraderie. It’s the love of racing and the thrill of a great time for race fans and drivers alike.
MIS tickets are on sale. NASCAR Sprint Cup Series tickets for the Heluva Good! Sour Cream Dips 400 on June 13 and CARFAX 400 on August 15 are as low as $25. Visit MISpeedway.com or call the MIS ticket hotline at 800-354-1010 today to take advantage of great pricing for 2010 events at MIS.
