After 36 races and thousands of correct picks, Roger’s Fantasy Pick ‘Em Contest has finally come to a close with Karen Boler of Altus, Oklahoma taking home the grand prize of two Victory Lane Club passes for the June 2011 Heluva Good! Sour Cream Dips 400 race weekend at Michigan International Speedway.

Boler had two entries in the randomly selected grand prize drawing after correctly picking Jimmie Johnson to win at Auto Club Speedway in February and Johnson again at Infineon in June.

“This is very exciting,” Boler said. “I played the contest almost every week and am surprised that I was picked. My family and I are definitely making plans to come to Michigan in June and being at the race for sure. This is a tremendous opportunity for us.”

Boler will attend the Father’s Day weekend race with her husband, Anthony, 10-year-old son Jonathan and 7-year-old daughter Sarah. Knowing that her husband and son are bigger race fans than she is, Karen is giving her two Victory Lane Club passes to them, while she and Sarah will sit in the grandstands for the race with tickets they will purchase.

“My son is a big Jimmie Johnson fan and he was the one that got my husband involved in the sport. Usually it’s the other way around,” Boler said. “I’ll come to the race with them, but I’ll sit in the grandstands or walk around the facility a lot, while they’re in the club. It’s an experience I want them to have. I’m a fan, but they are even bigger fans. They’ve been to races at other tracks before, but this will be our first trip to MIS.”

As an avid race fan, MIS President Roger Curtis follows the sport of NASCAR very closely, but picking winners each week proved to be a very difficult task during his Fantasy Pick ‘Em Contest.

Curtis correctly selected just two winners during the 36-week race season, Denny Hamlin at Pocono in June and Johnson at Dover in September. Despite not picking a lot of winners correctly, Curtis really enjoyed playing the contest with the fans and plans on doing it again in 2011.

“It was more difficult than I thought it was going to be,” he said. “Anything can happen in a NASCAR race and to have a one in 43 chance to pick the winner correctly each week is harder than you’d think. I really enjoyed this contest though. Congratulations to Karen and all the fans that participated. We’ll definitely plan on another contest like this for the 2011 season. It will be here before we know it.”

In all, thousands of MIS race fans participated in the contest with 36 weekly winners receiving MIS prizes and Boler receiving the grand prize.

Nestled in the lush Irish Hills of Southeastern Michigan, Michigan International Speedway is the Great Escape, a venerable NASCAR national park where fans can get away and enjoy the very best in racing and camaraderie.
