Wine and Food Pairings Return!

Sometimes it’s not just a great bottle of wine that makes the dining experience a positive one, but also the food that is paired with it.

With that said, the popular food pairing seminars that were a hit with guests during last year’s Great Lakes Wine Fest will return for the May 21 event at Michigan International Speedway.

The pairings, demonstrated by MIS’ Executive Chef Frank Marrara, are on sale in advance of the Great Lakes Wine Fest presented by the Jackson County CVB for $10 per pairing.

Advance pairing purchases can be made by calling 800-354-1010. Online sales are not available for the pairings.

“People who attended last year’s Great Lakes Wine Fest were thrilled with the pairings so we’re planning on offering them again to our guests this year,” Marrara said. “Because of the overwhelming demand, we decided to offer advance purchases for the pairings so people know they will have a seat for them before they attend.”

Each pairing will feature a two-ounce pour of wine from a participating winery at the fest, along with a sample of food that complements the wine.

Each pairing is limited to 50 guests so advance tickets will likely be the only tickets available.

Pairings, times and locations are as follows:

12:30 p.m. – Pit Road Suite 215
Lemon Chicken Skewers paired with Bowers Harbor Vineyard Chardonnay
1:30 p.m. – Pit Road Suite 218
Tri Color Tortellini Pasta Carbonara paired with St. Julian Winery Pinot Grigio

2:30 p.m. – Pit Road Suite 215
Pork Loin paired with Fenn Valley Vineyards Riesling

3:30 p.m. – Pit Road Suite 218
Chocolate Waffle Basket with White Chocolate Chantilly Cream paired with Pentamere Winery Monks Haven Merlot

4:30 p.m. – Pit Road Suite 215
Wasabi 5 Spice Tuna Loin with Balsamic Reduction paired with Warner Vineyards Traminette

“We are planning on doing a variety of different pairings throughout the day with each one a little different,” Marrara said. “I’m personally very excited about these pairings. Each one is unique so it’s important to get the right combination of food paired with the correct wine. People will really enjoy these pairings we have put together for the Great Lakes Wine Fest presented by the Jackson County CVB.”

Advance tickets for the Great Lakes Wine Fest presented by the Jackson County CVB are $25. Each ticket includes $10 worth of tasting tokens per day. Guests save $10 on advance tickets through May 20.

This event is for guests 21 and older.

Weekend camping is also available for $25 in the track’s MISCamping.com Graves Farm Campground. Need an RV? A hassle-free camping option is available for the wine and brew fest at www.MIScamping.com.
