Now is your chance to drive on the track at MIS
Want to be like Dale Earnhardt Jr., Jimmie Johnson, Greg Biffle or your favorite NASCAR driver? Now is your opportunity to drive on the racing surface with the popular Track Laps at Michigan International Speedway.
MIS is bringing back its track laps program, where race fans can drive laps on NASCAR’s fastest racetrack. Fans can experience the banking in the corners and follow the same lines as the NASCAR drivers do – and help raise money for charity.
Fans will have the opportunity to drive laps on the last four Tuesdays in July. The track will be open from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. for laps on July 9, 16, 23 and 30. Reservations for track laps can be made by calling 800-354-1010 (no online purchases available).
Once a phone order has been placed, a ticket will be mailed to the guest in advance of their selected day. Guests can purchase tickets at the Administration Office off US Highway 12. All guests must enter and present their ticket at the tunnel entrance to the track off of Brooklyn Highway.
Track laps are $25 for each three-lap segment on the historic Michigan International Speedway. Participants will have the opportunity to drive on the track at a maximum speed of 70 mph led by the MIS Ford Mustang pace car.
All proceeds benefit MIS Cares, MIS’ official charity.
“This is a highlight for the fans,” track president Roger Curtis said. “We often hear from our fans how they want to drive on the track and now is their opportunity to be a driver for a day. Everyone wants to emulate their favorite driver and experience what a NASCAR driver experiences.”
The track laps are limited to passenger vehicles only, no motorcycles. No passing of other vehicles will be allowed at anytime. The driver of the vehicle must be 18 years of age and all participants will need to sign a waiver before driving on the track. Seatbelts and headlights must be on at all times.
Laps will take place rain or shine. In the case of a date cancellation due to extreme weather or safety conditions, MIS will contact all guests in advance on their visit.
MIS focuses on charity through the program MIS Cares, which gave $75,000 to different children’s organizations in 2012. MIS Cares is a 501 © (3) non-profit entity under the umbrella of the NASCAR Foundation. MIS Cares’ mission is to create a lasting, positive impact on our community through charitable giving and volunteer efforts that cultivate community growth and advances quality of life.
