Pure Michigan offering chance to be honorary starter
The Pure Michigan 400 at Michigan International Speedway is less than a month away, and one lucky fan will get the best seat in the house as honorary starter on race day.
Pure Michigan today announced the launch of the Pure Michigan 400 Honorary Starter contest, which runs through August 6 on Pure Michigan’s Facebook page. Fans are invited to share why they want to wave the green flag to signal the start of the race at MIS on Sunday, August 17. Entries may be submitted directly to the Pure Michigan Facebook page via the contest tab.
Fans of the page will also have an opportunity to vote for their favorite entry. The winner will be chosen from the 10 submissions with the most fan votes based on which submission best displays a passion for racing and all things Pure Michigan.
“Whether you come in for the day, or choose to camp for a few nights, the Pure Michigan 400 is a great way to get out and experience a Pure Michigan weekend,” said Leslie Hornung, Senior Vice President of Marketing and Public Relations at the Michigan Economic Development Corporation. “We are excited to once again show our appreciation to our fans by choosing one to serve as honorary starter for the race.”
Individuals must be fans of Pure Michigan on Facebook to view the entries and vote. The winner will receive four tickets to the race in addition to serving as the honorary starter. All other expenses including travel to the Michigan International Speedway will be at the winners own expense.
“We are happy to partner with the Michigan Economic Development Corporation to offer a fan a once in a lifetime opportunity to wave the green flag for the Pure Michigan 400,” said MIS President Roger Curtis. “We continually strive to offer memorable experiences for our guests. As the state’s largest campground, we showcase the Irish Hills and all things Pure Michigan to our fans.”
Fans voting for their favorite submission will also have an opportunity to sign up for the Pure Michigan eNewsletter, which includes ideas to help plan Michigan getaways, including festival and event highlights, special promotions from featured destinations, deals, packages and shopping trips and a run-down on seasonal outdoor activities.
