Toys and food collected at the Charity Track and Toy DriveShare
Families from the area will soon have a holiday season to remember thanks to the generous support from the community at the eighth annual Charity Track and Toy Drive on Saturday at Michigan International Speedway.
The community waved the green flag to a season of giving as a families and organizations came to the track to donate a bag of food or a new toy. And many brought a whole trunk full.
“We cannot thank the community enough for their generous support of this event,” track President Rick Brenner said. “Thanks to all the food and toys that were collected we are able to help so many people in our community. We hope our efforts provide a lift to those that need it and make their holidays more festive.”
Thanks to the generous support, a 34-foot trailer was filled with toys to donate to the U.S. Marines Toys for Tots in both Jackson and Lenawee Counties. In addition, two 16-passenger vans were filled with food for the Brooklyn Food Pantry and the St. Mary’s of Good Counsel Food Pantry in Adrian, Michigan.
Guests took a lap in their personal automobile around the track in exchange for a new, unwrapped toy or a bag of nonperishable food.
