A letter from MIS President Roger Curtis
We recognize that our infield guests are some of our most loyal customers. You’ve sat by and watched us improve our grandstands and other areas of the property, and have been patient with us while we’ve said, “Your time is coming!”
We’re happy to report that time has finally come!
Your feedback and suggestions have helped us move forward with Phase One of a much-anticipated infield reconfiguration. During this phase, we have widened every infield site by four feet and have corrected many of the infield drainage issues.
We have posted an updated map of the infield at the right to help in understanding the changes.
Here are some other important facts about this exciting project:
Wider Sites!
Four extra feet per campsite means there are fewer sites in each row so many physical site numbers have changed.
With the widening and removal of sites, some site locations may have shifted. If you were next to or back-to-back with someone in your party, you may be offset from them now.
In an effort to accommodate as many loyal infield guests as possible, an extensive survey of the infield was conducted resizing every single site to 19 x 40, and adding newly defined sites to reduce the overall number of guests that would have been displaced.
Closer to the track action!
We removed one of the auxiliary guardrail barriers in the infield so some guests in “Row A” have been moved closer to the track to what is now called “Row AA.” The cost remains $200. (While we would have liked to move all our guests forward, there were several areas of the infield where fire, rescue and medical vehicles park that prevented it.)
Guests in the new “Row AA” will now load from the front and have a row of campers directly behind them, the former “Row A.” The former “Row A” pricing has been reduced to $175 and will be available for relocation during the January calling period as outlined in your renewal.
Questions or concerns?
We will do our very best to accommodate guests who have been displaced from their friends. We ask for your patience during this time as we may not be able to accommodate all requests.
Should you find true discrepancies with your order, we have designated two Michigan International Speedway staff members to assist our infield guests during this time. Please be sure to call the Michigan Ticket Office directly at 517.592.6666 M-F from 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. and ask for Rob or Jackie.
Relocations and Wristbands
If you are interested in relocating to the former guardrail row “Row A” you will need to do so in January during the calling period, as outlined in your renewal.
Wristbands may still be purchased for $60 at this time, a reduction from 2009 pricing, during the calling period. After the calling period, wristbands will increase to $80; and any wristbands purchased after April 1 will be $100. To receive the lowest pricing for 2010, do not wait to call.
This is only Phase One of improvements to the infield. We hope to make more announcements in the future that should further enhance our guests’ experiences at Michigan International Speedway. Thank you for your patience as we continue to make much needed improvements to our facility, and thank you for being our guest. We look forward to 2010.
Sincerely,
Roger Curtis
President
