New look to 2011 schedule

The NASCAR Nationwide Series race at MIS, traditionally held in conjunction with the Sprint Cup Series event in August, will move to June. That move means the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series event will be held in August.

Michigan International Speedway will hosts its 84th and 85th NASCAR Sprint Cup Series races in 2011, track officials announced Friday. The track’s opening NASCAR Sprint Cup Series weekend in 2011 will be a return to Father’s Day on June 19. The series will visit Michigan later that summer on August 21.

Kevin Harvick won his first Sprint Cup Series race at MIS by winning the CARFAX 400 on Sunday. The win gave owner Richard Childress his first victory at MIS since Dale Earnhardt Sr. won here in 1990. The victory also secured Harvick a spot in the Chase for the Championship.
