Bus Trip Information
Thursday, August 9: Bus Tour and Lunch
Do you want to spend some time on the inside?
Cell Block 7 was the largest block within the State Prison of Southern Michigan with 516 cells and served for many years as the Reception and Guidance center for the Lower Peninsula. Today, Cell Block 7 is a one-of-a-kind prison museum inside an operating penitentiary. When you arrive to Cell Block 7 you are on active prison grounds. Although this wing of the prison was closed in 2007, Cell Block 7 gives you a true look into a real prison, where thousands of convicts have done hard time. You can view the same cells, walk the same corridors, and pass by the same gun towers as some of the most hardened criminals in Michigan's history. While you’re spending time at Cell Block 7, you won’t have to try to imagine prison life; you’ll feel it, experience it; and it’s as close to prison as you’ll ever want to get.
Bus Pickup is at 11:00 a.m. at M-50 Crossover Tram Stop
Museum Entrance: FREE
Lunch is on you at The Chase Bar in downtown Jackson before the tour.
