Recycling Efforts
In 2008, Michigan International Speedway began a partnership with Coke Recycling to assist with the speedway’s mission to reduce waste.
As a partner, Coke Recycling, who also works with other tracks along the circuit, provides hundreds of containers for MIS to place around the facility and collect empty beverage bottles and cans. The containers are unique in that they are repurposed Coca-Cola syrup barrels.
Schupan Recycling, partner of Coke Recycling, works with the track’s service organizations on race weekend to ensure that as many plastic and aluminum beverage containers as possible are recycled.
Although, Coke and Schupan Recycling are present on race weekends in June and August, the recycling program at MIS continues year round.
