Why Should I Donate? | Facts About Giving Blood

Why Should I Donate Blood?
When world events make you feel your ability to bring about change is limited, it's nice to know you do have the power to make a difference. By volunteering to donate blood, you're giving the gift of life to someone who, without your selfless act,
might not otherwise live.

* One blood donor's single gift of life can help up to three people.
* Every day, patients in our nation's hospitals need an average of 34,000 units of red blood cells.
* The need for blood has increased dramatically in recent years, and is expected to skyrocket as baby boomers age.
* Just five percent of people in our nation give blood. Ninety-seven percent of us will need a blood transfusion in our lifetime.

Perpetuate The Giving Spirit Of America. Please Donate Blood.
Volunteer blood donors are the only source of blood products for hospital patients. Your donation will help save the life of someone very sick or seriously injured, and help strengthen America's blood supply. Anyone in good general health who is 17 years old and weighs at least 110 pounds may be eligible to donate blood.
