Sherman Earns Pole For Hantz Group 200

Brent Sherman posted the quickest lap around Michigan Int'l Speedway Thursday afternoon, earning his second career Pork Pole award in the ARCA RE/MAX Series with a speed of 184.601 mph. As a result, Sherman will start on the pole for Friday's Hantz Group 200 in his No. 04 Serta Mattress Ford. Sherman was especially complimentary towards his crew during Pork Pole award ceremonies. "I have all the same guys I had two years ago," said Sherman, who returned to the ARCA RE/MAX Series this year after competing in the NASCAR Busch Series and NASCAR Nextel Cup Series in 2005 and for much of 2006. "It was frustrating to come back to ARCA and not run well but we made some changes and it seems like we are back on track now. This team and I all went different ways in our careers a few years ago and now we are back and we all have improved. It seems to be going really well." Racing legacy Steve Wallace starts on the outside pole in the No. 61 Nu-South Lemonade-Hantz Group Dodge. The son of NASCAR Nextel Cup Series champion Rusty Wallace posted a 182.839 mph lap during his Pork Pole qualifying run. Frank Kimmel, Brad Coleman and Pete Shepherd rounded out the top five. The Hantz Group 200, the 15th of 23 events on the 2006 ARCA RE/MAX Series schedule, is set to roll off on Friday, August 18th at 5:15 p.m. The race will be aired LIVE on SPEED beginning at 5 p.m.
