June 2007 Campsite Contest Winner Announced

The hot, humid temperatures during the June 15-17 NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series Citizens Bank 400 weekend, mixed with the palm trees on display in the Miller Lite Party Deck located inside of Turn One, made it feel like you were vacationing in Hawaii, even though it was at a better location on Michigan International Speedway property. With that in mind, the June campsite contest theme of a "Luau" fit the mold perfectly, especially for David and Judy Kisner of Davenport, Iowa. The Kisner's "Luau" themed campsite was selected by MIS as the Best in Show. The site was located in the M-50 campground and was appropriately decorated. For winning the June MIS campsite contest, the Kisner's will receive their campsite for free in June of 2008. "With the hot weather, the Luau theme was perfect," said MIS Director of Guest Services Tim Booth. "The Kisner's were very creative with their site. I encourage anyone who is camping here for a race weekend to get involved with the contest. It's very competitive, but fun and you get your campsite paid for an event next season if you win." Participants in the contest registered their sites, which were designed based on a theme selected by MIS. Anyone who has a campsite on the speedway grounds can register their site for the remaining two race weekends. The IndyCar Series weekend on August 4-5 will carry a "Wizard of Oz" theme, while "Christmas" will be the theme for the August 17-19 NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series 3M Performance 400 weekend. You can register your site by filling out the form in the Inside Track publication or at the check-in trailer in each campground. Tickets are available for all the August 4-5 IndyCar Series Firestone Indy 400 weekend at MIS, with children 12 and under admitted free the whole weekend. In addition, tickets are still available for the NASCAR Busch Series CARFAX 250 on August 18 and the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup 3M Performance 400 on August 19. All tickets can be purchased now by visiting www.MISpeedway.com, or by calling the MIS ticket hotline at 1-800-354-1010.
