Casey Mears visits Jackson in support of CARFAX 400Share
NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver Casey Mears gets the opportunity to race in the sport’s top series each and every week as driver of the No. 07 Chevrolet for Richard Childress Racing. However, in the beginning it all started at the go-kart track for Mears.
Mears, who was in Jackson, Mich. in support of the Sprint Cup Series CARFAX 400 at Michigan International Speedway on August 16, returned to the go-kart track on Thursday by competing against media and sponsors at Jackson Speedway. Mears posted victories in a majority of the heat races against some tough competition.
“This was a lot of fun. I raced on the go-kart circuit for a couple of years so it was nice to get back in a kart and race against some media and sponsors who were pretty tough competition,” Mears said. “I’m happy to support MIS and the upcoming CARFAX 400 race at the track on August 16.”
Mears met with members of the local media and sponsors ranging from CARFAX, to local sponsors like Budweiser and Alro Steel.
“It’s great to see sponsors come out and support events like this. Sponsors are a big part of our business and I enjoyed interacting with all of them today,” Mears said.
MIS President Roger Curtis welcomed Mears to the event and also raced against the RCR driver in a few heat races.
“Casey is one of racing’s top drivers and a great ambassador for NASCAR,” Curtis said. “He put up some tough competition on the go-kart track today. We appreciate him attending our media event and look forward to seeing him hopefully make it to Victory Lane in the CARFAX 400 at MIS on August 16.”
