We have a winner!


It’s official! Michigan International Speedway fans have chosen their winner for the speedway’s Fan Appreciation Program presented by LifeLock.

With over 1,100 votes cast during the 5-week long contest it was a close finish with only nine votes separating the winning logo with the runner-up.

Five logos in all were designed internally for the contest by MIS staff members Dustin Gilbert and Amanda Heller. The winning logo, which was listed as No. 2 on the voting page, is fitting for the Fan Appreciation Program presented by LifeLock. It depicts a race fan raising their arms up in excitement, similar to what MIS fans do each and every race day.

“This new logo is great because it really captures the excitement of what race fans experience when they visit MIS every summer,” MIS President Roger Curtis said. “I would personally like to say ‘Thank You’ to everyone who voted in this contest. It’s important to us that the fans chose this logo, because it represents what we are here for – the fans.”

Sossity Bolen of Hastings, Mich. was selected as the winner of the Fan Appreciation Logo presented by LifeLock contest. Bolen was randomly chosen from the pool of fans that voted on the winning logo. Bolen will receive two tickets to the ARCA Racing Series presented by RE/MAX and Menards Racing for Wildlife 200 and NASCAR Sprint Cup Series qualifying day, which will be held on Friday, June 11.

Bolen, an infield camper for both the June and August race weekends, has been attending races with her family at MIS for about 10 years.

“I can’t believe I won,” Bolen said. “I really like the logo and everything MIS does with its Fan Appreciation Program. My family and I have been attending races as infield campers for about 10 years. We have a great time and can’t wait to go back this summer. We love camping in the infield!”

Curtis and his staff are committed to providing its fans with memorable experiences while they visit MIS each summer and the Fan Appreciation Program presented by LifeLock is an extension of that commitment. Fan feedback has also played an important role in many of the $55 million worth of facility improvements that the speedway has invested since 2006 as well as the creation of the Fan Advisory Board (FAB) and Fan Advisory Network (FAN), which weighs in on many MIS initiatives.

The Fan Appreciation Program started last summer with much fanfare. The program gave away once-in-a-lifetime prizes during the June and August race weekends last season including waving the green flag during qualifying laps and giving the command to start engines as the grand marshal for the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race. MIS plans to continue the program in 2010 with race tickets, pit passes, seat upgrades, pace car rides and exclusive access to driver introductions, among other amazing prizes.

“It’s important for us to show our fans how much we appreciate them for choosing Michigan International Speedway during both good and bad economic times,” Curtis said. “You can’t buy loyalty — you earn it. So we’re continuing to show fans how much their loyalty means to us by providing opportunities that are unique experiences that will create lasting memories of their time at MIS.”

The Fan Appreciation Program will be sponsored by LifeLock in 2010. LifeLock, who has sponsored NASCAR Sprint Cup Series races at MIS since 2008, is excited about partnering with the Irish Hills track with this program.
