Week 1 winner selectedShare
Bruce Quigley of Clarkston, Mich., has been picked as the Week 1 winner of Michigan International Speedway President Roger’s Curtis’ fantasy pick em’ contest.
Quigley correctly selected Jamie McMurray as the winner of the Daytona 500 and will receive an MIS stainless steel water bottle after being randomly chosen.
Among the 342 fans that signed up for the contest last week, Quigley was only one of nine that selected McMurray as the winner. Quigley and the eight other fans will be automatically entered for the grand prize drawing at the end of the season for two Victory Lane Club passes for the 2011 season, a $1,200 value.
Curtis picked Tony Stewart, who finished 22nd in the race.
“Congratulations to Bruce on his pick of Jamie McMurray,” Curtis said. “The Daytona 500 is anybody’s race to win and McMurray continued that trend. It was an exciting finish and you can chalk one up in the win column for the fans on this one. Hopefully I’ll get the next one right at Auto Club Speedway, but it certainly won’t be the last time I get one wrong this season.”
Overall, week 1 of the contest saw a variety of drivers selected from McMurray to the most popular pick, Dale Earnhardt Jr, who finished second after nearly passing McMurray on the final lap. The contest received picks from 39 different states and Canada, including one from Alaska.
“It’s great to see the fan representation from all over the United States and Canada,” Curtis said. “I encourage everyone to keep visiting MISpeedway.com/rogerpickem and sign up every week. This is a fun contest for everyone including myself!”
MIS is hosting its weekly NASCAR pick em’ contest at MISpeedway.com/rogerpickem. Fans have the chance to make a weekly selection on who they think will win that weekend’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race. Curtis also makes his selection on the website and discussed why he selected his driver on a weekly podcast.
All picks for the contest must be entered one hour prior to the start of each race. The contest is open to residents of the United States and Canada. Fans may also make their selection each week by mailing a 3 x 5 card with their pick and race name to Michigan International Speedway, 12626 U.S. 12, Brooklyn, MI 49230. All cards must be postmarked prior to the event date.
Nestled in the lush Irish Hills of Southeastern Michigan, Michigan International Speedway is the Great Escape, a venerable NASCAR national park where fans can get away and enjoy the very best in racing and camaraderie. It’s the love of racing and the thrill of a great time for race fans and drivers alike.
