Mickey Smeltzer wins Week 2!Share
Mickey Smeltzer of Ames, Iowa, has been picked as the Week 2 winner of Michigan International Speedway President Roger’s Curtis’ fantasy pick em’ contest.
Smeltzer correctly selected Jimmie Johnson as the winner of the race at Auto Club Speedway and will receive MIS branded prizes of a color changing cup and hand sanitizer pen.
Among the 453 fans that signed up for the contest last week, Smeltzer was one of 79 that selected Johnson as the winner. All 79 fans will be automatically entered for the grand prize drawing at the end of the season for two Victory Lane Club passes for the 2011 season, a $1,200 value.
Curtis picked Jeff Gordon, who finished 20th in the race.
“Congratulations to Mickey and all 78 other fans that picked Jimmie Johnson right this week,” Curtis said. “In my weekly pick em’ podcast last week I was torn between Johnson and Jeff Gordon and ultimately went with Gordon. I’m getting closer to getting one correct!”
Overall, week 2 of the contest saw Johnson as the most popular pick of the weekend. Gordon was the second most selected driver.
MIS is hosting its weekly NASCAR pick em’ contest at MISpeedway.com/rogerpickem. Fans have the chance to make a weekly selection on who they think will win that weekend’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race. Curtis also makes his selection on the website and discussed why he selected his driver on a weekly podcast.
All picks for the contest must be entered one hour prior to the start of each race. The contest is open to residents of the United States and Canada. Fans may also make their selection each week by mailing a 3 x 5 card with their pick and race name to Michigan International Speedway, 12626 U.S. 12, Brooklyn, MI 49230. All cards must be postmarked prior to the event date.
