Scott Place week 12 winner!Share
Scott Place of Grovetown, Ga. has been picked as the Week 12 winner of Michigan International Speedway President Roger’s Curtis’ fantasy pick ‘em contest.
Place was one of 52 fans to correctly select Kyle Busch as the winner of the race at Dover and will receive an MIS mouse pad, calendar and pen.
Place and the 51 other fans will be automatically entered for the grand prize drawing at the end of the season for two Victory Lane Club passes for the 2011 season, a $1,200 value.
Curtis picked Jimmie Johnson, who finished 16th after dominating for much of the race. Johnson suffered a speeding penalty on the last pit stop of the race after leading most of the event.
Overall, week 12 of the contest saw Busch as the most popular pick of the weekend. Jeff Gordon was the second-most picked driver with 50 selections. There will be no picks made for the NASCAR All-Star race this weekend in Charlotte. The contest will continue on Memorial Day weekend for the Coca-Cola 600 on May 30.
“Jimmie Johnson was so good during the race. I really felt like I had picked my first winner of the season,” Curtis said. “It was unfortunate that he got a penalty at the end, but that’s racing sometimes. It was nice to see Kyle Busch win the race just a few days after he visited with many of our fans, partners, VIPs and media in Grand Rapids. We had a lot of fans pick him this week so 52 more are entered into the drawing at the end of the season, including this week’s winner Scott Place. Congratulations to all of them.”
MIS is hosting its weekly NASCAR pick ‘em contest at MISpeedway.com/rogerpickem. Fans have the chance to make a weekly selection on who they think will win that weekend’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race. Curtis also makes his selection on the website and discussed why he selected his driver on a weekly podcast.
All picks for the contest must be entered one hour prior to the start of each race. The contest is open to residents of the United States and Canada. Fans may also make their selection each week by mailing a 3 x 5 card with their pick and race name to Michigan International Speedway, 12626 U.S. 12, Brooklyn, MI 49230. All cards must be postmarked prior to the event date.
