NASCAR Kinetics team at CMU to host watch party SundayShare
As one of the inaugural schools to adopt the NASCAR Kinetics program, Central Michigan University takes great pride in the group, bringing awareness of the sport to the school and community.
CMU’s NASCAR Kinetics team will take that one step further by hosting an “M&M's Makes Race Day More Fun Watch Party” for the Martinsville Speedway Sprint Cup Series race Sunday, Oct. 30.
The watch party will take place at The Cabin, a popular student hangout near the Mt. Pleasant, Mich., campus at 1 p.m. There will be free pizza, Dodge showroom vehicles, Michigan International Speedway’s pace car, music, prizes and more at the party. The event is free.
The watch party will also showcase a special Q&A session with MIS President Roger Curtis, who is known throughout the racing business as one of the sports great ambassadors and resident expert on NASCAR racing.
“The NASCAR Kinetics program at Central Michigan University has done a great job of bringing awareness of NASCAR to its campus and making the sport relevant to students who attend there,” Curtis said. “I’m more than happy to attend this watch party and answer any questions the students of CMU and community members of Mount Pleasant have about MIS and the sport of NASCAR.”
The Cabin is at 930 W. Broomfield St. in Mt. Pleasant. For questions, e-mail email@example.com.
NASCAR developed the “NASCAR Kinetics: Marketing in Motion” program in 2009 to educate colleges about the NASCAR brand. This innovative, engaging program gives the teams an opportunity to work through real-world business challenges facing the motorsports industry. As the NASCAR retailer in Michigan, MIS employees work with the team as mentors.
NASCAR Kinetics members leverage techniques and lessons taught in the classroom to complete case studies and projects. Each student chosen for the NASCAR Kinetics program is tasked with fostering NASCAR brand awareness throughout their college and the community. Students who have taken part in the program credit it for giving them a leg up on the competition for internships and jobs in the sports industry.
