MIS, VFW host “Salute the Troops” NASCAR Viewing PartyShare
Michigan International Speedway, Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), Veterans of Foreign Wars Foundation and Buffalo Wild Wings® are joining forces to host a “Salute the Troops” NASCAR viewing party for the July 29 Crown Royal presents the “Your Hero’s Name Here” 400 at the Brickyard. Fans are invited to the free event at the Buffalo Wild Wings located at 216 James L Hart Parkway in Ypsilanti, Mich., from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm.
The free event will feature prizes and giveaways, the official MIS 2012 Ford Mustang pace car, a Budweiser draft special (for adults 21 years or older), and an opportunity to support local military families.
“We’re pleased to help the VFW ‘Salute the Troops’ at a very special NASCAR watch party,” MIS President Roger Curtis said. “We thank all the men and women who have served in the military and it is great to be associated with an organization that carries the same commitment. The VFW 200 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race will be a great event and we cannot wait to welcome all the military and their families.”
Numerous prizes will be given away throughout the event, including a grand prize VIP race experience with two (2) Saturday passes to the VFW suite, cold garage passes, and access to the VFW 200 drivers’ meeting, pre-race ceremonies and victory lane. Other prizes will be given away throughout the event including MIS tickets and hospitality packages, NASCAR memorabilia and merchandise, and Buffalo Wild Wings gift cards and merchandise. Winners must be present to claim prizes.
Buffalo Wild Wings, an official partner of the VFW Foundation, will donate 25% of food sales during the event to the VFW Foundation to support their military assistance and appreciation programs.
One such program is the Salute to Military Families hospitality event at Michigan International Speedway during the August NASCAR weekend. The VFW Foundation and supporting partner NSK will host over 400 local military guests to complimentary pre-race hospitality, pit tours, special access to drivers and pre-race ceremonies and grandstand tickets to the Pure Michigan 400.
The VFW Foundation and NSK will host special guests from the Michigan Army National Guard and Selfridge Air Force Base at the July 29 viewing party to receive Salute to Military Families tickets during a special ceremony. The remaining tickets will be distributed through the Michigan National Guard, Selfridge Air Force Base, the VFW Ohio Charities, and the VFW Department of Indiana.
Buffalo Wild Wings is a proud supporter of the VFW Foundation. During the month of May (Military Appreciation Month), participating Buffalo Wild Wings donated 10% of a guest’s total food purchase to the VFW Foundation through the “Salute the Troops” campaign. Buffalo Wild Wings and its franchisees raised $50,000 in 2011 and $200,000 in 2012.
Fans that attend the July 29 viewing party will have the opportunity to purchase a special MIS ticket package onsite. Pricing ranges from $50-$90 depending on location and package selected and includes a Pure Michigan 400 grandstand ticket, pit pass and $10 food voucher.
