Exclusive offer to celebrate with seven-time champion Jimmie Johnson


Michigan International Speedway has teamed up for a special ticket package with seven-time NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Champion Jimmie Johnson for the FireKeepers Casino 400 on June 18 and the Pure Michigan 400 on August 13.

Fans have the opportunity to meet seven-time NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion Jimmie Johnson with during an exclusive Q&A session. And while Johnson is collecting his hardware this week at the NASCAR Sprint Cup Awards in Las Vegas, fans can secure their spot at MIS next year by purchasing tickets at www.mispeedway.com/johnson or by calling 800-354-1010.


Guests will spend time with Johnson and learn about race cars and NASA during fun STEM activities geared toward guests 12 and under on race day. This event includes a 15-minute kids’ Q&A with Jimmie, activities and hands-on lessons from NASA’s Rockets 2 Racecars program, a ticket to the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race on June 18 or August 13. The ticket also includes a pit and paddock pass for race day.

The package, which is available to all NASCAR fans is $96 for adults while guest 12 and under are just $48.

“Jimmie Johnson continues to support efforts to bring youth to the race track through innovative programs,” track President Rick Brenner said. “This is a great opportunity for our fans to get an exclusive Q&A with the seven-time champion and to take part in a hands-on learning program. We are excited to partner with Jimmie on this offer for the FireKeepers Casino 400 and the Pure Michigan 400.”

Youth will participate in hands-on activities during a special learning program, led by NASA trained educators. The focus will be centered on aerodynamics, grip, speed and other key racing elements used in NASCAR. The lessons will help demonstrate the relationship between NASA and motorsports. Each kid who attends the Q&A will also receive a four-color Jimmie Johnson NASA Rockets to Racecars activity book centered on STEM education.

Johnson clinched his seventh NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Championship in 2016 when he won the final race of the season.  His seven championships tie NASCAR Hall of Famers Richard Petty and Dale Earnhardt. In 15 Sprint Cup seasons, Johnson has posted 80 wins and 216 top five finishes.

The first of the track’s two traditional NASCAR weekends in 2017 is June 16-18 with the Corrigan Oil 200 ARCA Racing Series on June 16; NASCAR XFINITY Series on June 17; and the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series FireKeepers Casino 400 is on Father’s Day on June 18.

The Sprint Cup Series will wind up its summertime stint at MIS and be back on August 13 with the Pure Michigan 400. The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race is on August 12.
