Hero's Hall As you begin your Spirit of America experience at Michigan International Speedway, American flags guide you to Hero's Hall. Once inside, American Red Cross staff and volunteers will first confirm your appointment and then efficiently coordinate the entire donation process including a brief questionnaire, health screening, and the collection itself. A second, very special opportunity will be available to Spirit of America donors while at Hero's Hall. The Hendrick Marrow Program will be offering at no cost, the opportunity to be added to the National Marrow Donor Program Registry. After a stop for refreshments, you will receive your Patriot Pass, a commemorative event credential, including an Indy Racing League lanyard and holder. Before making your way to the tram to commence your visit to the other Spirit of America areas, you will receive your Kodak camera to immediately begin capturing the memories of your special day.
Patriot Plaza Being a hero can have its rewards, and there's plenty to be found at Patriot Plaza. The Patriot Plaza is located in the lobby of the MIS Champions Club presented by AAA. The Champions Club is a spectacular dining and hospitality area that sits high above the start/finish line offering a breathtaking view of the track. Step outside the Club to enjoy a high-rise view of the Irish Hills. While in the Club, donors will enjoy a complimentary meal catered by Americrown including Pepsi soft drinks and ice cream. Donors will also receive their Spirit of America 800 cap, pin, shirt and other gifts while relaxing in the Club. Donors can test their own racing skills behind the wheel of the full-size #6 AAA Motorsports racing simulator. Driver's scores will be registered throughout the day, and a Spirit of America 800 Champion will be crowned. Before leaving the Plaza, donors are welcome to stroll the MIS Walk of Champions for a nostalgic look at previous race champions of Michigan International Speedway. Lastly, don't pass up the opportunity to get a photograph with the MIS show car in the Spirit of America 800 Victory Lane celebration display.
Unity Field - A Patriot Day Memorial Before leaving the grounds, you'll visit Unity Field - A Patriot Day Memorial. This ten-acre self-guided tribute features over 3,000 American Flags and the names of each innocent victim who lost their life as a result of the attacks on September 11, 2001. From the tragedy of 9/11 our Nation found unity, focus, and strength. We emerged a stronger nation, renewed by a true love of country and by the Spirit of America.
